Oh Honey, Welcome to Zou Beesou!

Person in beekeeping suit holding a honeycomb frame with bees.

My name is Alysa

I am an educator, mentor, bee steward, honey sommelier, and Master Beekeeper.

My foray into beekeeping began 9 years ago in rural Oklahoma...

what started as a hobby quickly evolved into a passion for bee-focused beekeeping, education, and mentorship

I have since expanded my apiary to the South Bay of Los Angeles...

It is here our rescued bees thrive in these beautiful beach towns, due mostly to our luck with temperate weather, along with the graciousness of their hosts who provide year round forage.  Through the resilience of our rescued bees and as a Cornell University Master Beekeeper, I've been able to delve deeper into treatment free beekeeping and what it means to be a sustainable beekeeper.

And to add some sweetness...

I am a member of the Italian National Register of Experts in the Sensory Analysis of Honey, where I received specialized training as a honey sensory expert.  Through my work, I hope to be a bridge between the pollinators and the stewards, and also between the beekeepers and the honey connoisseur in us all.
